The maternity claim process differs depending
on whether the hospital you attended has
a direct payment agreement with Vhi Healthcare.
A list of direct payment hospitals is available
in your member
handbook.
Direct Payment Hospitals
The majority of maternity hospitals now
have a direct payment agreement with Vhi
Healthcare. This means that your hospital
and doctor’s bills are paid directly
by Vhi, saving you any inconvenience.
If the hospital you attended has a direct
payment agreement with Vhi Healthcare:
On admission,
you will be asked to complete and sign
side one of a Maternity Claim Form.
The hospital will arrange
to have side two of the claim form completed
by the attending doctor.
The completed claim form
will be sent to Vhi Healthcare for payment.
Vhi Healthcare will pay
the doctors and hospital directly.
You will receive a statement
of the benefits paid from Vhi Healthcare.
Non-Direct Payment Hospital
If the hospital you attend does not have
a direct payment agreement with Vhi Healthcare
you will be asked to settle your hospital
bill when you are discharged and claim the
money back from Vhi later. You don’t
have to pay the doctors as Vhi Healthcare
is legally obliged to pay the doctors directly.
When you
are discharged from hospital, the hospital
will send you out a non-direct hospital
claim form with the medical section
already completed by your doctor.
You must complete and
sign side one of the form and submit
it along with your receipts to Vhi Healthcare.
If the hospital does not send you out a
partially completed claim form:
You can
request for a claim form to be sent
out to you in the post or print one
by clicking
here.
Submit the completed
form along with your receipts to Vhi
Healthcare.
Vhi Healthcare will send
you out a cheque for the hospital costs
and a statement of benefits paid to
doctors.
